Away from the City
Pulau Ubin, Singapore

Ruins of Kampung Houses
Pulau Ubin, known as Ubin, is an island in northern east of Singapore. It is one of the last rural areas to be found in Singapore. The name literally means "Granite Island" in Malay due to many abandoned granite quarries. In the past, the rocks on the island were used to make floor tiles and was called "Jubin".
Lake inside the island
As legends saying, the island was formed when three animals (frog, pig and elephant) was race to reach the shores of Johor. The animals that failed were turned into stone. They faced difficulties crossing the shores therefore elephant and pig turned into Pulau Ubin and the frog became Pulau Sekudu or Frog Island.

Main transport for tourists inside the island are bicycles that can be rented for the whole day. Prices depends on what class will you choose to use. Biking inside the island was very challenging with the ups and downs of the road and from asphalt roads to rocky ones. Be sure to bring a lot of energy when you planned to visit the island. I just did cover the half of it from jetty transport to Chek Jawa Wetlands only and I will definitely comeback to see the remaining parts of the island.
